New Potential Pilots: Read First

Recommended Posts

Welcome to VMFA-251!

Hello and Welcome, if you are interested in joining this is the right place. This page will be kept up to date with information regarding joining, required mods for our server and links to important documentation. First step after making an introductory post in the VMFAT-101 section is to join our discord: and say hi there as well, we tend to be more active on discord: https://discord.gg/XUBUUTD

VMFA-251 is currently CLOSED to recruiting.

If recruiting is currently closed you are still encouraged to introduce yourself and get to know some of the people here, we can only handle so many student pilots at a time and will re-open once we get people through the syllabus.

Required Mods:

476th Range Target Mod: http://www.476vfightergroup.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=287 follow instructions on their site to install

Ranger Pack Unit Mod: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kZ6jmojWtuRn3i8uoxtsHBqJNyg4wvze install the same way as Range Target mod, check discord for help if needed

 SRS/Simple Radio: Currently 1.5.6

Here is a Brief Overview of the Expected Training Pipeline for the New Pilot:

  1. Join the Squadron Website: Do this first if you have not.
  2. Introduce Yourself to the Squadron: Located in the VMFAT-101 Forum
  3. Ensure you read and understand all the documentation: Any documents listed in this post
  4. Conduct an Interview with one of our Instructor Pilots: You will be contacted directly by an IP or someone in Command to set this up on Discord
  5. Perform Initial Checkride: Upon passing, you will be inducted, if you don’t pass continue to communicate, practice, and get with our IPs to improve your skills. All new pilots will be kept in VMFAT-101 for a period of ~30 days. This is to ensure availability and the ability to progress through the syllabus. After ~30 days or after completion of the 2000 level syllabus, new pilots will be brought in as full members of VMFA-251.
  6. Induction into VMFAT-101: An On-Wing will be assigned, and scheduled training will begin with the 2000-Series Operational Syllabus. This should be completed in 3 months or less, usually much less, which will give you the hours and experience to become ‘Operational’ with VMFA-251.

vVMFA-251 is a virtual DCS World F/A-18C squadron flying the Belsimtek/Eagle Dynamics F/A-18C module exclusively. We focus on real-world tactics as best we can within the DCS Wold environment.

vVMFA-251 is not your run of the mill DCS World squadron.
